A Natural Pause Point

Last night’s swim marked a natural pause point.
The intention had been to carry the work through the year, to move beyond the winter window and establish a longer, more continuous rhythm. That has been tested over recent weeks.
With longer days and increased activity along the coast, the conditions around the swim have changed. Light remains later. The beaches are more active. The margins that once allowed quiet entry and exit have narrowed significantly.
The water itself remains manageable. The limiting factor is no longer the swim.
It is visibility.
The primary risk in this work has always been being seen by someone without context, an unassuming bystander who, acting in good faith, could reasonably believe there is cause for concern and involve emergency services where no assistance is required.
That is not a risk worth taking.
For that reason, the swims are now paused.
This is not a conclusion, but a recognition of boundary. The environment has shifted, and the work adjusts accordingly. The intention remains unchanged, but its expression will be revisited at a later point under more suitable conditions.
